Eastlea Curriculum

The Eastlea curriculum is always being further developed and refined.
The skills progression documents for each national curriculum area are being further reviewed this year and are included below as well as a curriculum outline for the current term.

Reading
We teach early reading/Phonics using Read Write Inc.  This starts with phonological awareness in Nursery and phonics skills are further developed throughout the rest of Early Years and KS1.
Our pupils love to read and we have lots of whole school initiatives to encourage a love of books, e.g. our annual reading challenge, golden library ticket, shared reading with other classes etc.

Additional summary documents outlining further details about our curriculum are also included:

  • There is a separate outline of our Health and Wellbeing (PSHE) curriculum.
  • A two year plan for RE using the new Northumberland recommended syllabus (2024-2025 is Year A).  N.B.  Parents/carers should discuss with the Head Teacher if they wish their child to be withdrawn from all or part of the RE curriculum.
  • A document outlining our Maths 'Mastery' approach is also included.
  • Our music development plan summary.

If you would like to find out more about the curriculum in school please contact your child's class teacher in the first instance or Miss Beeston (Head Teacher).
