Eastlea Primary School – a GOOD school that is well worth a visit
Eastlea is a ‘good’ school and we are absolutely delighted to have this once again recognised by Ofsted following our inspection in July and in their report which was published in mid-September. The loyalty, enthusiasm and commitment of everyone connected with the school has been recognised in a really positive report.
The inspectors noted that, “pupils at Eastlea take pride in their school and enjoy learning. They behave well and take care with their work.” They also recognised the fact that “Leaders, including governors, are committed to maintaining a positive, welcoming school culture where all are enabled to achieve.” This was music to our ears as making education enjoyable, providing a wealth of learning opportunities and experiences and ensuring that everyone is provided with the support they need to succeed are key elements of our whole school ethos.
It was wonderful to have the broad engaging curriculum that we offer recognised as having such a positive impact by Ofsted. “Leaders have prioritised achievement in mathematics and English but they have ensured that this has not led to a narrowing of the curriculum. Pupils talk enthusiastically about sporting events, residential visits and school trips, author visits and homework projects. Parents also comment positively on the opportunities the school provides.”
Eastlea is a happy school. Pupils are well supported in all aspects of their learning. Ofsted stated that “Leaders have secured an inclusive culture across the school. They have invested in approaches which seek to remove barriers to learning for all pupils. Staff, pupils and parents consistently say that there is very little bad behaviour. Leaders promote good behaviour and pupils value the ‘Golden Days’ which reward those who consistently follow school rules.”
Eastlea was judged good in all areas, the effectiveness of leadership and management, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare, the outcomes for pupils and for our Early Years provision as well as the overall effectiveness of the school.
We are rightly proud of our school and would like to extend an open invitation to anyone who is thinking about sending their child to Eastlea, is curious to find out more or just wants to see for themselves what we have to offer. Contact us to arrange a visit by ringing the school office (01670 732261) or sending us an email (admin@eastlea.northumberland.sch.uk) We look forward to welcoming you.
